Tax Preparer Continuing Education

TaxPreparersCE.com is an IRS-Approved sponsor with over 20 years of experience in delivering tax-related continuing education. Our 15- and 18-hour continuing education packages will satisfy the full education requirement for the IRS Annual Filing Season Program. We have packages for preparers who are required to take the 6-hour AFTR course as well as those who are exempt from this portion of the requirement. **All AFSP courses were required to be completed by 12/31/21. Per IRS regulations, courses for next season will become available summer 2022.**

AFTR Package

This package satisfies the annual continuing education requirement for the IRS Annual Filing Season Program for tax preparers who must take the AFTR course to qualify. The 18-hour package includes:

6 hour Annual Federal Tax Refresher (AFTR)
10 hours Federal Tax Law
2 hours Ethics

Course materials are provided as a PDF file that can be downloaded from your account immediately after purchase. Exams are completed online. NOTE: Per IRS regulations, the AFTR exam will have 100 questions and a time limit of 3 hours. All other exams have no time limit and 5 questions per credit hour.

AFTR-Exempt Package

This package satisfies the annual continuing education requirement for the IRS Annual Filing Season Program for tax preparers who do not need to take the AFTR course. The 15-hour package includes:

10 hours Federal Tax Law
3 hours Federal Tax Updates
2 hours Ethics
